Between the 22nd and 25th of May elections in 28 Member States will determine the composition of a new European Parliament. From our perspective, the guarantee and protection of digital rights are an essential component of an open society. In the interest of alleviating the apathy evident in the low turnout of the last two elections, we want to make digital rights central to the election campaigns of parliamentary candidates, giving long-term leverage to digital rights groups across Europe for the next five years.

In order to encourage democratic engagement, we need to raise awareness about the importance of this topic. Making a stance for digital rights by supporting the campaign would have big effects on placing the future of digital rights in Europe as an essential aspect on the agenda of the European Elections in May 2014.
