This weekend, the world gathers to celebrate the life and legacy of Pope Francis—a pilgrim of mercy, justice and global outreach. From the barrios of Buenos Aires to the borders of forgotten nations, his papacy has been a journey to the margins that has transformed hearts and rekindled the Church’s mission in the world. As he is laid to rest at the Basilica of St. Mary Major, we pray that he is welcomed into the loving arms of God.

On April 25, we commemorate World Malaria Day with the theme "Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite." We’re proud of the progress we made in 2024 to eliminate malaria, thanks to partners like ‪@theglobalfund‬ , national governments and local partners. And we can’t stop there.

The world still has a long way to go, but eradication is possible. We can eliminate malaria if all nations, with their local and international partners, scale up and sustain relatively inexpensive prevention and treatment efforts.

This year, let’s renew our commitment and find innovative strategies to fight malaria.

Happy Earth Day! Below are some photos of our beautiful planet taken by CRS-affiliated photographers. Which is your favorite? Share why in the comments!

As we take the day to appreciate our natural environment, we reflect on these words by Pope Francis from the prayer “For Our Earth” in “Laudato Si’”:

All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe and in the smallest of your creatures.
You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.
Pour out upon us the power of your love, that we may protect life and beauty.
Fill us with peace, that we may live as brothers and sisters, harming no one.

On March 28, a 7.7- magnitude earthquake caused widespread damage and casualties across Myanmar. The hardest-hit areas remain without electricity, water or telecommunications. Thousands of people continue to sleep outside, fearful of being within a structure and unable to return to their damaged homes.

CRS continues to support our local partners by providing food, shelter, water and essential supplies across affected areas.
