Error Corrections. Dear Viewers, after publishing a video, YouTube severely restricts the ability of the creator to edit the video. Few options are available beyond cutting parts of the video out. That's understandable, as creators would likely be editing to improve quite often. I have a minor error in two videos based upon information I later discovered and after making certain corrections to the two videos I wanted to inform you this way as well, because what I tell you here will be helpful to you in watching other people’s videos. If it’s a minor error, there are ways to inform people. One is to put a clarification in the video description, and while that absolutely must be done, that isn’t enough because few people read video descriptions. The most common way video creators correct the video is to add “subtitles” at the place the error occurs. It is the only real option. Those appear however only if the viewer has the CC – or Closed Caption – button on when viewing videos, so, I always view videos with the button on. In my Vietnam War: First Americans Killed in Laos, at the 7:23 minute mark, I said the Pathet Lao only ever released one prisoner of war. That isn’t true, they actually released five (I placed the names in video description and in the subtitle). In my Ravens III video, at 08:46 and 25:52 a name appears “Craig Morrison” but the man is actually Joe Scheimer. I corrected the name with a subtitle and noted the error in the video description. For the visually impaired, unfortunately there is no audio option allowing correction.
