Metro College of Nursing Students Shine at Infection Prevention Week Workshop
Students from the 2nd semester B.Sc (N) program at Metro College of Nursing actively participated in the Infection Prevention Week workshop held from June 13th to June 15th, 2024. This event, organized by Metro Group of Hospitals in collaboration with the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, aimed to enhance awareness about the significance of infection prevention and reinforce the fundamentals of effective infection control.

Workshop Highlights
The workshop provided an enriching platform for students to deepen their understanding of infection prevention. It featured various activities, including:

Poster Competition: Students showcased their creativity and knowledge through informative posters on infection prevention.
Quiz Competition: Testing their knowledge, students participated in a quiz competition, securing impressive 3rd and 4th positions.
Achievements and Participation
The students’ remarkable performance in the quiz competition highlights their dedication and understanding of the critical aspects of infection prevention. This achievement not only underscores their academic prowess but also their readiness to contribute to healthcare settings effectively.

Learning and Certification

On June 13th, 2024, Metro College of Health Sciences and Research, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society and District Hospital, Noida, successfully organized a blood donation camp. This event was held under the esteemed guidance and support of our dear Managing Director, Dr. Sonia Lal Gupta, Director-Education, Dr. Kanak Lata, Prof. Pravin Prakash, Principal MCN, and Dr. Praveen Gaur, Principal of the Pharmacy department.

𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
:Students from the Nursing, Paramedical, and Pharmacy departments, along with faculty members and admin staff, enthusiastically participated in donating blood.


𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫'𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞: "20 YEARS OF CELEBRATING GIVING: THANK YOU BLOOD DONORS" was the theme for this year's World Blood Donor Day, emphasizing the importance of voluntary blood donors who have saved countless lives over the years.


𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐬: Each donor was honored with a donor card, a certificate, and a coffee mug encrypted with The Indian Red Cross Society logo, as a token of appreciation for their life-saving contributions.

To ensure the availability of safe and quality blood and blood components collected from voluntary donors, offered at an affordable cost to the general public and free of cost to those in need.

Metro College of Nursing Organizes CHO Training Workshop
From June 3rd to June 8th, 2024, Metro College of Nursing successfully conducted a comprehensive workshop focused on Community Health Officer (CHO) training. This workshop aimed to enhance community development and improve access to basic health services by equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge.

Objectives of the CHO Workshop
The primary objectives of the CHO workshop were:

To contribute to community development.
To enhance access to basic health services for community members.
To ensure students are well-trained to provide essential information and services to the community.
Integration with Nursing Curriculum
The workshop integrated 38 critical topics from the Community Health Nursing subject within the final year syllabus of B.Sc and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing. These topics are essential for the CHO course integration into the nursing curriculum.

Workshop Content
During the workshop, students participated in a certificate program that covered the following key topics:

Roles & Responsibilities of a CHO
Understanding the essential duties and expectations from a Community Health Officer.

Records, Reports & Information System for HWCs
Training on maintaining accurate records and utilizing information systems within Health and Wellness Centers (HWCs).

Standard Treatment Protocol for PHC & SC
Learning standardized treatment protocols for Primary Health Centers (PHC) and Sub Centers (SC).

Supportive Supervision and Performance Reviews
Emphasizing the importance of supportive supervision and conducting performance reviews to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Participation and Engagement
The workshop saw active participation from students of the 4th year B.Sc Nursing and the 2nd year Post Basic B.Sc Nursing programs. The enthusiastic involvement of students made the sessions interactive and lively, enhancing the overall learning experience.

Conclusion
Metro College of Nursing's CHO training workshop not only equipped students with vital skills but also aimed to make a significant impact on community health services. The successful integration of the CHO course within the nursing curriculum reflects the institution's commitment to producing well-trained professionals ready to contribute to community health development.
