We finished an 11-hour private Road to Hana tour yesterday! It was wonderful to meet so many viewers at the stops. Thanks for taking the time to say hi! to us.

We did the tour in a Bronco convertible! The kids loved riding with the top down, we enjoyed the waterfall swim, and our guide Joe was a wealth of entertaining stories. Thanks to Jasmine and Gus, the local owners, for hosting us. We will have a video sharing our experience. We did their Hana Bound! tour, which is the classic Hana and back route. They offer three other routes, including a Pipiwai Trail hike that beats the crowds. You can learn more about their tours below. We hope you can experience the Road to Hana during your trip to Maui. Get on the Hana Highway anyway you can: DIY, with an audio guide, with our itinerary guide, or with a private tour.

We aren't turning our back on you this Saturday! Our next video has been three years in the making. Editing has taken longer than we thought, so instead of rushing it, it will come out next week. Until then, grab a cup of Kona coffee and enjoy your weekend.

We recently toured Heavenly Hawaiian Coffee in Kona, it was a delightful experience. Check out their tours on your next trip to the Island of Hawai'i.

I can't believe we've been so lucky to be able to share our trips to Hawaii for six years now! Season 6 of The Hawai'i Vacation Guide is starting this Saturday. We are kicking off the season with a visit to a lesser-known part of Maui.

This season, we will continue our focus on supporting local, safe travel, regenerative travel advice and having a blast on your well-earned holiday to the islands. Safe travels, and thanks for watching for all these years.

Kilauea is erupting! A new fissure vent, lava waterfall, and fantastic webcam footage from this eruption! But, the eruption is far from a viewing location. We provide a full update plus some excellent local volcano guides in our newsletter this Saturday: https://thehawaiivacationguide.com/newsletter/

This picture was taken two weeks ago when we were visiting Hawaii's Volcanoes National Park. Thurston Lava Tube is a can't-miss stop in the park, and our guide, Joel, showed us some new things in the tube.

If you're interested, we have two things to share. First, a travel hack when getting pictures taken on vacation. When we see someone with a fancy camera or a high school student, we ask them to take a family picture. They are always the best at it! This picture was by a nice gentleman with a DSLR at Wai'anapanapa Black Sand Beach on Maui. It was taken with my iPhone.

Second, we are taking our annual break from posting videos. We will continue to post Shorts and on Instagram but our long-form videos will be back in early November. We have a lot of ideas for Season 5 of the Hawai'i Vacation Guide! Thanks for watching and thanks to our subscribers who got us over the 100k Subscriber count this season. A wonderful vanity metric for YouTube.

Our Hattie passed away earlier this month. We miss her tremendously. Many have noticed she hasn't been in our videos much for the past year. Her hips had gotten progressively worse to the point she could no longer walk.

We shared her origin story in our How to Avoid Pet Quarantine in Hawaii video ( https://youtu.be/PGMyaLgN31I ) at the 12:55 minute mark. She came with us on most of our island-hopping adventures so she had visited all four major Hawaiian islands numerous times. Not bad for a stray Jack Russell from London.

Many of you have asked how you can help those affected by the wildfires on Maui. Thank you for offering support. We are keeping an updated list of Hawaii charities that have opened funds specific to wildfire relief here: https://thehawaiivacationguide.com/lahaina-maui-fire-update/

We have donated to the Hawai'i Red Cross, Maui Humane Society, and the Maui Food Bank. We have seen the work these organizations have done on Maui in the past.

We love Lahaina deeply and we can't seem to find the words that express just how much we do. Lahaina is a vibrant community, a home, and a place we hope will shine again.

A Maui Travel Update: We are devastated by the Maui fires and the destruction that has hit historic Lahaina Town. All non-essential travel to Maui is currently being discouraged. We are providing daily updates and ways to support the community here: https://thehawaiivacationguide.com/lahaina-maui-fire-update/

And for anyone kindly emailing and messaging to ask if we are safe, we are. Lahaina was our home but as we shared in our newsletter and on our site, we recently relocated to the mainland for a family need. Erica's grandparent's home that we lived in did burn down (the house our daughter was born in), but we are ever so grateful that our family and friends are safe.

We’re going to pause our videos for a little while as we try to figure out how to best use our videos in the future to support the small businesses on the island that have been impacted by this.

Erica and I are team when researching, traveling, and playing with our kids. Plus she loves to throw them in the air on Waikiki Beach. Our parents come along on a lot of our trips to Hawaii, like these pictures from my archives of my mom in 2009 to 'Akaka Falls on Hawai'i and Erica's mom in 2011 to Haleakalā on Maui. Happy Mother's Day!
