Hello, it is me, the cake from William Pellen's twitter account, coming at you with an update on the supposed Silksong hints. ** I'm updating this post once again to bring you further news: Leth has reached out to inform me that the cake was, indeed, a lie. There was no ARG. Now, please feel free to peruse the rest of this post, unedited, keeping that in mind for your amusement. Apologies to have misled everyone. ** ... First, for context, watch my video if you haven't yet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jpNk... Since this video was released, people have tried to pick apart William's account changes and tweet for further meaning. In short, there may be some hints pointing more toward the date of the April 2nd Switch Direct, but it is honestly not as conclusive as we would like. Let's discuss. In William's original tweet, he wrote "keep your eyes closed tomorrow." No one could make any much sense of this, however hard we tried. But if you google "eyes closed tomorrow" (with quotes), the top two results for the query were posted on April 2nd, the same date as the upcoming Switch Direct. Both of these results are posts by Imagine Dragons, one on YouTube and one on Twitter, which read "Eyes Closed. Tomorrow." It seems plausible that we were meant to find this through a search: the same way we found the blackout cake recipe. Funnily enough, BlueSR pointed out that the song Eyes Closed is also part of an album called "Loom" ... like Pharloom? I don't know if that's intended, but it would be really funny if it was. Time for some sillier theories. Let's start with "little bomey", William's new twitter alias. Theory 1, it's a misspelled reference to Little Boomey, a wine from Adelaide, the Australian city Team Cherry is headquartered in. The first google result for "Little Boomey" shows a price estimate for the wine from last April, which could be pointing to the April Nintendo Direct. Or theory 2, it's a misspelled reference to Little Boney, a nickname for Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon married his wife on April 2nd, and his wife wears a red cloak. That said, Napoleon also wears a red cloak and is a major historical figure who could be related to any calendar date of the year, probably. Seems kind of unlikely to me that this reference was intended. The theories about William's tag, @everydruidwaswr, are in my opinion not very compelling. First theory is that it's an anagram, ("weavers", "druid", .... "wry"?), second, that it's a reference to the Druid of the Moss Temple in the Silksong trailer, who seems to be sending a message to Silksong fans about Silksong hype, or that it's a reference to some Diablo 4 patch notes released on April 2nd which made druid changes. I suspect people found that one by searching "Druid April 2nd"... because that's what they wanted to find. Some theorize that William was hacked. I'm fairly certain we would have informed of this by now. Graig, a playtester for TC, also responded in HK Main to William's tweet and did not seem concerned at all about the possibility. Some have speculated that this is all a coincidence. I don't think so, personally. First, again, Team Cherry has run several ARGs in the past. Second, these hints (if you agree they are hints) were made within a very close timing window to the announcement of the Switch 2 Direct, and appear to point toward the date of it even though it's months away. To be fair, some of the theories are definitely weak. Third, I think William Pellen understands the gravity of publicly stating "something big is coming" better than anyone. Sure, he makes a lot of silly posts, but I don't see him changing his pfp, tag, alias, and then sending a cryptic tweet that would obviously drive Silksong fans crazy just for fun. I also don't follow his Twitter though, so who knows. Anyway, I'm writing this summary so I can put it behind me and get back to Speedrunner vs. Hunters, aka my actually entertaining content. The main takeaway for me is that there's valid reason, in my opinion, to be optimistic about the April 2nd Nintendo Direct. Or maybe we were betrayed by Skibidi Ohio Rizzler and we're all just collectively silkposting. More important than any of this, the blackout cake recipe actually slaps. Here's a picture of me before I sliced a piece and found the date Silksong will be shadowdropped cooked inside.
