I glared at my reflection, I was so mad. Turns out it would’ve been an easy yes! But then there’s always the backstory… 

This all happened waaaay back when I had around 7,000 subscribers on my YouTube channel. 

I was just starting out in the online world and I had so much anxiety (I still do! But my toolbox of coping strategies is fuller these days).

I had signed up for a social media conference, and saw there was a call out for speaker applications. 

As you can guess, I decided I wasn’t enough. Not enough experience, not enough of a social following, not enough subscribers, not enough confidence… 

They’re feelings we’re all familiar with. 

But here’s the hard part:
 
At the event I went to speak with the host and told him, “oh, funny thing I was going to apply to be a speaker”, fully expecting him to laugh it off and say something encouraging to help me along my entrepreneurial journey. 

Instead, he said, “Lu, I know who you are - you’d have been a total yes. Why didn’t you apply?” 

😱😱😱 Lesson learned.

I’m still kicking myself to THIS DAY. 

I applied and spoke at the event the following year. 
But what a learning experience. 

If you don’t take action, you will miss out on all the possibilities it leads to. 

Don’t let feelings of inferiority or inadequacy stop you from moving towards your dreams. 

Apply to that speaking opportunity, ask to guest on a podcast, invest in that course or program if it’s what you want.
