Just when I thought I'd heard every trick Matt Freeman had up his sleeve, Rancid's "Life Won’t Wait" threw down a whole new deck. His playing on this album is so diverse that if you told me five different bassists had stepped in, I’d have believed you. His lines twist and turn through punk, ska, reggae, and straight-up rock ‘n’ roll, proving yet again that he’s one of the most dynamic players out there.

I finally heard the iconic "London Calling" album, and that means I can begin the rest of my life now. And, life is already looking a lot different because The Clash are no longer the "Should I Stay or Should I Go" band for me, but something FAR more intriguing.

Musically? I can't believe some of the unexpected sounds I heard on this album. What an immersive listen. It's a long one, so get comfy and come walk through this beast with me! 😉 👉👉

While I haven't heard many ska punk albums front to back, Streetlight Manifesto's "Everything Goes Numb" is going to sit at my number one spot for a long time, I predict. This album bridges the accessibility of Catch 22's sound with the novel craziness of 2007's "Somewhere in the Between"—and that's the recipe I've been craving! What a record.

One year ago, I heard Operation Ivy for the first time. I enjoyed it, but didn’t understand it like I do now after submerging myself into punk and ska for all of 2024. 

Today, I heard “Energy” from start to finish for the first time, and I freakin’ get it now. Our Patreon community voted to kick off 2025 the right way, and I invite you to come join us. I now understand why this album cemented a legacy that's still talked about to this day. 

I'm excited to announce that I've teamed up with  ‪@DingwallGuitars‬  as the host of their new podcast, "Comfortably Strung"—I'll be interviewing bass players from their incredible roster of artists, which includes many of my heroes, peers, and a diverse range of players representing various styles and genres.
