South America trip is done and I just arrived in Europe ( Barcelona ) for the next few weeks. I already filmed 6 episodes with some real freaking legend and i am really proud of our work together.

This is an update on the direction of this channel. I finally decided to only post one video per week and no more short form. First is to not have mental breakdown so frequently ( the pressure is literally killing me ) and secondly is because i want to focus on the best quality that i can as one guy production team. I want that every video you watch would be something you never seen before or you just learn something about skate and culture.

I finally got an ipad for editing which is life changing. I was editing on my phone for almost 3 years. One edit could take me sometime 20 hours to do. I want to step up my production and making the best video i could do for the community.

All the videos that i will complete would be on PATREON way before youtube. If you want to have access to early release video or just want to support the project here is the link 🔗
 https://www.patreon.com/Theskatenomad?utm_campaign=creatorshare_creator but no pressure 🤝

I believe this project to document every country and skate culture is way beyond me. If i can create something that last for generations, push people to skate and explore the world, it would mean i succeeded.

I appreciate everyone for the support and thank you a lot for that.

Also this new scheduled might change at some point but for now one full quality video every Saturday morning and all the extra videos would be early release on Patreon.

Much love- Mike

Love Letter To Skateboarding By TheSkateNomad

Skateboarding means different things to different people. I’ve been traveling full-time for over three years, and one thing I’ve learned is that skateboarding is a privilege—a gift. Being able to skate at a decent park or even just a spot on concrete is something we often take for granted. Most skaters around the world simply want to skate. They don’t care about style, toe drag, or the Olympics.

For many, just having a skateboard with four wheels and a place to ride is a dream. The skateboarding economy is tough, and making a living from it can seem impossible—but I get it.

We skate not for fame or money, but because we’re passionate. I’ve seen skateboarding become more serious, political, and negative (though I haven’t spent as much time in the U.S. as in other places).

We should appreciate the community we have and the era we live in. We don’t have to go to war; we can just skate with friends on a Thursday night.

My goal with this channel is to show what skateboarding is like for people everywhere. We may have different styles, tricks, and opinions, but at the end of the day, we’re all connected.

I left everything behind to follow my love for skateboarding. I have no education, everything I own fits in a medium duffel bag, and I’m 30 with no plan for the future. I love skateboarding so much, I’d die for it if I had to choose.

People call me a poser or say I’m not a “core” skater, but I disagree. I’m here to push the culture forward—not for me, but for all of us. I want to give every skater a voice in this amazing community.

Keep driving the community for the best as it can be

You should always be true to yourself. People will find something to hate about you and what you’re doing. I used to care so much about the opinions of others and was always seeking validation.

The truth is, none of that matters because others have never walked in your shoes. In 2025, I let go of the fear of judgment. I know my flaws, I know my qualities, and I know myself.

I am corny as hell, socially awkward, and I have anger issues, but I know I’m working on being the best version of myself every day.

The irony of this post might be that I’m still seeking validation, which is something I should work harder on.

But I’m sure that by sharing this, I can help someone appreciate themselves. Be you and do you.

The right people will appreciate you, and the rest who does not… it doesn’t matter

After years of traveling, I’ve finally visited 50 countries. My younger self would have never believed it. Growing up, I always felt like I didn’t belong—especially back home in Canada. I was a nomad, moving from city to city, school to school, sometimes five times a year. My idea of home and family was shattered. My therapist says I travel because I’ve never felt truly at home anywhere.

They say your past shapes who you are, and I now see the truth in that. If I hadn’t lived such a chaotic life—constantly moving, growing up in places like weed plantations and crack houses—I wouldn’t be doing what I am today. I used to pity myself, but now I’m grateful for it. My broken past has shaped me, and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

I’m not racing to visit every country, but I want to really experience each one. I take my time, learn about the culture, the people, and, of course, skateboarding. I want to connect with locals and document what’s truly going on.

So, no matter what life throws at you, trust that it shapes you into who you are meant to be. Everything happens for a reason, and one day, you’ll see how it all comes together. Embrace it.

Three years sober today. The last time I drank and used drugs was in Nicaragua for New Year’s. I ended up in the hospital after a near overdose from cocaine (probably laced with fentanyl) that I bought at 4 a.m. on the beach. I was alone and terrified. In fact, I was so scared that I made the decision to never drink again. I started using drugs and drinking when I was around 11 or 12. I partied so hard that I eventually got tired of waking up feeling like crap.

I have an addictive personality disorder, which means I get hooked on pretty much anything I try—whether it’s video games, social media, drugs, women, traveling, or skateboarding.

I had to learn to use this “disorder” for good. Quitting the party life gave me a lot of free time, so I started a YouTube channel with the goal of skating in every country on the planet. I became obsessed with learning everything I could, and so far, it’s been one of the best decisions of my life.

Mentally, I’m still broken, but making videos every day has helped me focus on something other than destroying my body.

Three years sober is a huge milestone for me, and I take it very seriously. There’s no going back now—I will stay sober for the rest of my life.

This is my personal story. I hope that by sharing it, I can inspire some of you to consider that going sober might be the most life-changing decision you can make for yourself.

2024 was a rollercoaster for everyone. Here’s to another crazy sober year. 🙏

We Reached 100k SUBSCRIBERS 🎉🥳
I started this YouTube journey in Portugal 2.5 years ago. I had a vision to document my skate travels, but I was so scared to put myself out there. I was afraid of being judged and disliked. I left everything I knew to try to learn this new skill set. I failed so many times, but I tried to learn from every single mistake. I became obsessed—even addicted—to creating YouTube videos.

I used my addictive personality in these projects, spending almost 100 hours every week on them. With only a GoPro (RIP) and an iPhone to edit, I always tried my best to bring quality. I sacrificed many relationships, my mental health, and my physical health trying to create the best video I could.

On this journey, I struggled a lot financially. I slept outside, ate only white rice for weeks, and did some sketchy things to survive. I wanted to push myself to do something that not many people would be willing to do.

The truth is, I never got satisfied with a video project. The thing that brings me the most happiness is meeting people in real life who tell me they love my little videos. For me, that’s everything.

First of all, I’d like to thank every single one of you who has been supportive in this journey. Without you, I would have never been able to keep going.

I want you all to understand that if you really want to do something, you can. Just put everything you’ve got into your passion and make your dream a reality.

The struggle is not over, but reaching 100k subscribers means I’ll keep pushing to bring you along on my travels.

Much love,
Mike
